Actually, on the IQ front the idea that it decreases with age is a generalization that can't be applied to everyone. My own IQ was tested before the age of ten, in my teens, and then shortly before I graduated college. Same basic test, same scoring system and there was a fifteen point increase between the first and third test.

But the issue with Sebastian has absolutely nothing to do with reality and everything to do with this ATA gene and exposure to ancient technology which McKay understands will change and alter the kid in ways that they don't understand completely.

The kid isn't smarter than McKay -- his thinking is more fluid. Adults are very rigid thinkers and the older we get the worse it becomes. They approach problems differently and Sebastian's ATA gene will play into that as well. He'll have a better grasp of that technology (like his father) because of his natural gene.

I really love your stories and your writing style. You have great insights into the characters and a good eye for details.

I can't wait to read more, this universe has really sucked me in. The only thing that even remotely bothers me is how perfect Sebastian seems. I mean it's a little strange how smart he is. I almost would have preferred seeing Shepherd and McKay dealing with a regular little boy. Also, most people's IQs go down as they get older, just as a side note. It was mentioned in the story how Sebastian's IQ might go up even more, and that's not really true. What I do love is how McKay is smarter than Sebastian, which is great because it evens out the family dynamic and allows room for Sebastian to actually be viewed as a kid, even though at times it does seem like he is smarter than McKay because of some of the things he has done.

I can't wait for more. Your stories are all amazing, and I definitely will reread them.

You are so very talented, bringing so many threads and elements into play. I found this to be exceedingly rich and engaging and I loved all the different characters and their story lines. How I loved that Jack acted as a surrogate father to John, and that John in his turn so fiercely protects Rodney, and now Sebastian as well!

I do hope to someday see what happens next, but you've given us so much I don't wish to appear greedy, so I will simply say "thank you" for this wonderful tale.

I found excellent story telling here from beginning to end. The relationships worked so well, with no quick fixes for the pain of rejection, the emotional scars left by abuse and war.
It goes without saying I fell in love with Sebastian. Whats not to love? It is so scary how like Rodney he is. LOL Thank goodness my own extra smart child did not give me the heart attacks that Sebastian give John and Rodney. Above average is good, genius is very scary. I do have to admit I fell in love with this universe as well. To see a group of human beings faithful and united in something so positive was very uplifting. :)

I was sucked in by Ties That Bind but now I've read everything you've posted here (well, up to 10/22/2010) and love it all. Especially how you do the "cast of characters" pix -- really helps visualize them. Hope there's more to... well, everything! Cos it's all brilliant.

I actually prefer to make my own ebooks and I'm in the process of editing this series for a "writer's cut" of the series. Since it is huge I don't plan to release it as one eBook but probably in 4 volumes.

I took the liberty to set and exporte this great novel in eBook and PDF and some other common formats, came down to 671 pages at normal book page setting and about 260.000 words. The sheer size of the book amazed me, never thought there would be so many pages, especially since this is a format for normal book publishing. This includes the 4 interludes, the cast photo's and the artwork. If you want i can mail it to you for publication on the site.

I could just add more fangirl squee for this story. God knows that's how I feel about it. Just take every positive thing anyone else has written above and add it all up. That's my comment. You totally rock and I am so grateful to you for the time and effort you put into all your stories. I feel like it's a gift you've given me. Thank you.

errmmm.....Sebastian's mom was Rodney's half-sister, right? Or am I imagining it?

As for the ones who are nasty to you, they are the ones with the problem, not you. Never doubt your talent, never doubt that you tell stories that make us all feel good, and make us think a little. This is a good thing. The people who write bad stuff to you have stunted, deformed little minds. Pity them and move on.
