Your Entitlement Makes Me Furious!

I received these two pieces of feedback:

In response to a part of Harry Potter and the Soulmate Bond:
Seems I didn’t review this one. My apologies. Fourth(?) reading now. Please make sure to keep updating this approx. monthly if you can…?

P.S.: What’s the current status of ‘Unspeakable Plot’? How close are you to finishing it? Is the ending plotted out? Written? Waiting to be beta’ed?

Then this on the announcement about The Unspeakable Plot:
Can you please send me a PDF of ‘Unspeakable Plot’ so far? I’d love to have what she’d previously posted on my Kindle while I wait for her to finish it. Email is **********. T.Y.V.M!

This isn’t the first time you’ve left me such feedback. In fact, you seem to make it a habit. I emailed you in private and answered the REPEATED questions about Unspeakable Plot  but never got a response — you’ve so far ignored THREE emails I sent. I’m left to think you never even fucking bothered to read them. I’ve responded to your questions in the past on the site — I don’t think you’ve read them either.

Your first comment today leaves me with the feeling that you’ve never in fact bothered to read anything I’ve had to say outside of what is posted on this site so that’s why I’m responding this way. I’ve told you MORE THAN ONCE that Unspeakable Plot wouldn’t be posted on this site until after beta. So for the record, no I’m not going to send you my rough draft in a fucking PDF and I don’t want anyone else doing it either. IT’S RUDE.

Additionally, you seem to have no concept of the idea that I might have a life outside of fandom OR that I might have other projects in progress that are just as important as the ones you prefer to read.

Your second comment makes me think that you believe the person who runs this site is different from the author. I don’t have someone to maintain my site for me. It’s just me. I also maintain Rough Trade. I pay for all of it as well. I take site donations but frankly it’s not enough to pay the bills around here entirely. That’s fine–this is my HOBBY. I enjoy it.

But I don’t enjoy entitlement and demands. I was honestly hoping that we were having a language barrier problem but you’re from Ireland so I don’t fucking see how you can’t understand the words I’m writing here. So, on behalf of every single writer you follow — I’m asking you to remember the following:

1. We’re human and we have lives that take place off the Internet.

2. Most people can’t pull 10 to 20k out of their ass at the drop of hat.

3. You’re getting this free and you don’t have the right to make demands of their time.

4. And for the love of Thor, Magic, and Spock’s pointy ears, that you repeatedly harassing an author about their work and updates just makes them frustrated and honestly feel unappreciated.

I woke up today, pleased that I could write the whole day. It’s Saturday and I’ve finished my to-do list for the week. I was excited about my writing plans. NOW, I’m just furious. So thanks for that. You might have thought there was nothing wrong with your rude-ass comments or maybe you just don’t give a fuck. But the end result is that I don’t have a single fucking desire to write now.

P.S. I didn’t post your email address. You’re welcome.

P.P.S. I’m going to disable comments on this post so the rest of my readers can’t heap abuse on you. You’re welcome, AGAIN.

In my spare time I write fan fiction and lead a cult of cock worshippers on Facebook. It’s not the usual kind of hobby for a “domestic engineer” in her 30’s but we live in a modern world and I like fucking with people’s expectations.
