August 2016 Newsletter

I’m dog sick and relatively moody beyond all comprehension. Rough Trade went very well and the erase date is October 1, 2016 so please make sure to read all you want before that point. And remember that harassing authors about their work on RT is very rude and super unappreciated.

I remain singularly uninspired by all of my ideas but I think it’s just because I’m sick. I ran a fever all of yesterday and I’ve been running one today as well. Summer colds suck so much ass. I don’t even feel like reading which is ridiculous because I can’t remember the last time I felt that way.

Facebook is boring too (no offense to my friends there).

I don’t even feel like working on my RT drafts from July. It’s just an insane how lazy I feel right now. Anyways, I don’t have much to talk about regarding my projects since I’ve done jackshit since RT.

  2. Hope you feel better soon!

  3. Hope you feel better soon!

  4. Yeah, summer colds/flu/virus-of-your-choice are the worst. You feel crappy and it’s too hot to even enjoy snuggling down with a blanket and sipping something warm. I hope you feel better soon!

  5. I hope you feel better soon!

  6. Sorry to hear you’ve fallen sick. I hope you feel better soon.

  11. So sorry that you’re not feeling well…hope you’re better very soon. Maybe you could play some first person shooter games? Mayhem and destruction sometimes works for me. 😉

    *hugs*

  12. I’m so sorry you feel so horrid!! Sending positive, hopefully healing vibes. Feel better soon!!!

  13. Feel better soon – and RT was excellent so thanks for hosting that.

  14. Feel better hon.

  15. Hope you feel better soon, summer colds truely suck and not in a good way. Take care of yourself.

  16. Sorry to hear you are not filling well… Get better soon!

  17. Hope you feel better soon! Sorry the sick bugs have gotten hold of you

  18. Sorry you are sick. Feel better soon.

  19. Colds are bad enough in winter, but summer ones always feel particularly unfair. Adding in that horrible state where you don’t want to do any of the things that you normally enjoy is just adding insult to injury! I hope the cold goes away soon and you find something enjoyable to do. Do you knit? There are some fabulous rude colour work mitten patterns available on Ravelry (& Etsy) by Drunk Girl Designs.

  20. Gah! Posted too soon! Meant to add that there might be a design to sum up your mood. Did NOT intend to imply you would only want to knit something rude. Maybe a nice jumper would suit? Sorry, shouldn’t write comments 20 mins after waking up! You don’t have to post this one, I just had to try to fix it! Sincerely yours, a veteran overthinker.x x

  21. *sending heeling thoughts your way*

  22. Summer colds suck donkey ass. I’m sending decongesting beams your way.

  23. Feel better and, yeah, August sucks.

  24. I do hope you feel better soon! I’ve been reading very good things about Olive Leaf Extract of late; as well as turmeric (see golden milk recipe available pretty much anywhere) being the latest (and yet one of the oldest, although only recently discovered by medical types) cure-all. They’re actually both more “prevent-all” types, so this is useless advice for now, but the golden milk might actually help you feel better. 🙂

  25. Sorry to hear that you are unwell. Summer colds suck but so do change of season winter to spring. Just when you think winter is over and spring is here – winter comes back with a vengeance (sneeze!). Hope you feel better soon and at least up to reading even if you don’t want to write. 🙂

  26. Hope the summer cold gets better soon. I think everyone agrees with the unfairness of it. And if you aren’t in the mood to do anything but waiting until it’s over, maybe that’s your body telling you what’s best at the moment?

    Best wishes for getting well!

  27. Being sick sucks. Hope you feel better soon.

  28. Wishing you a complete and speedy recovery. Summer cold are indeed the worst, and have been very common this summer.

  29. scarlet standish

Hope you feel better soon and take care.

  30. Feel better soon 🙂

  31. Feel better soon. I moved to Florida for the warmer weather since it’s much, much better for my health. Before, I’d be sick as a dog all winter long with nonstop colds (and complications from them like bronchitis), so I know how sucky (and evil!) colds can be. And that’s not even counting the spring and summer colds I got from my worn-out immune system! (Thankfully, the warm weather’s done what I’d hoped and my immune system’s done a 180 there.) So rest, drink plenty of fluids, make sure you eat (even if you don’t feel like it), and get better.

Sending well wishes and cyber chicken soup your way!

  32. I completely understand that, I’ve been having migraines much more recently. Its hard to read and enjoy it when your head feels like its being split open. I will say I hope you get to feeling better soon!

  33. Feel better!

  34. Being sick sucks no matter what season it is.
    Healing thoughts heading your way…

  35. hope u are well soon

  36. Feel better soon

  37. Good luck, hope you feel better soon. I have also been hit with that bloody sick bug. Some antibiotics and heavy cortisones later, i almost feel human again. Thinking of you.

  38. I hope you get better soon, the summer heat just seems to make colds linger longer than they should. I’m sure once you recover, you’ll get your MoJo back!

  39. In sympathy. Hope you feel better soon. My Grandma always said have ‘Real chicken soup’ and feel better. By ‘REAL’ she meant simmer chicken bones for at least a day. Science now agrees with Grandma. Not sure anyone dared disagree with Grandma so of course she was right.

  40. *hugs*

Keira, hope that you feel better. Being sick in the summer sucks hairy monkey balls.

Don’t worry about not feeling like doing anything. Just feel better. Ignore what’s not making you happy, and anyone who’s stupid enough to pressure you. Be as lazy as you wish. Everyone’s entitled to do so. It refreshes you.

Sending you virtual chicken soup, homemade bread and your favorite dessert.

    Feel better soon.

    *hugs*
    Liz

  41. Sorry for how you’re feeling. Wishing you well.

  42. Take care of yourself, Keira. Being sick sucks, but give yourself time to get better. No one will die for waiting for your next post!

  43. Hope you feel better soon, take care of yourself. I know you are not big on people telling you what you must or must not do when it comes to your writing and I imagine that translates over into other areas of your life. So with the best meaning, have you thought about a TV or Movie marathon? I find that if I am under the weather and I don’t feel like reading or playing video games, curling up and watching something helps.

  44. Hi. Sorry to hear you’re feeling so miserable, and that you don’t even have the energy to read, so best wishes for a speedy recovery from your cold.
I have to say I really enjoyed this July’s Rough Trade. There were some brilliant stories which I will definitely be making sure to reread. And I will be keeping my fingers crossed that everyone who posted feels inspired to share the finished versions with us.
I have said this before, but it is worth repeating – RT is an amazing resource for readers, and I assume, given the effort and enthusiasm they show in their work, that the writers feel the same. 😀 I am really pleased the site exists and that I found it, and I have to say ‘Thank you’ again for creating it.

  46. Hope you start feeling better. Take care.

  47. Here’s something to cheer you up: someone has made an amusing tee just for shippers: http://picture-cdn.wheretoget.it/y6doku-l-610×610-t+shirt-otp-feels-graphic+tee-tumblr-shipping-brown.jpg

I’d give you the etsy link but they had to redesign due to trademark issues. Apologies if you’ve seen it before, but it was new to me!

  48. I just know (hope?) that you’re gonna feel better soon, and that’s when you’ll regain your energy. When I get sick, I like to amuse myself by picking a character and writing a drabble about that character being sick with whatever I have. I’ve never gotten anything postable out of it, but it sure beats watching daytime television.

Husband currently has a type A flu that’s going around that causes his hands and feet to come up with painful, itchy spots–hope that’s not what you have!

  49. You’re right, summer colds suck ass. Just got over mine after a 5 day course of antibiotics for throat infection and sleeping in bed all day for 2 dayrs straight. That’s how you know you’re sick, when you want to do nothing but sleep. I hope you feel better soon!!!

  50. I hope you are feeling better. Sorry you were afflicted by a virus. They suck a lot.

  51. I hope your feeling better. When your sick you can’t beat either lazing in the bed or on the couch with Netflix or Hulu.
