December 2016 Newsletter

Reading Time: 1 Minutes

I really don’t have much to say since I’m all blah and shit. There were no radio shows in November because of National Novel Writing Month. I did complete 50k during the month but I still feel like I failed the challenge since it is a disjointed mess that I can’t even open at present because it is so frustrating.

I’ve done some restructuring on my site:

1. I’ve reopened my work so you no longer have to be a member to read.
2. You do have to be a member to comment and I’ve closed memberships. I don’t know when or if I’ll be open them back up. Please don’t be asked to added the site, your email will be ignored.

It crossed my mind that I don’t have a problem with readers as so much as I have a problem with some commenters so I’ve fixed that problem and ignoring my wishes regarding feedback on my site is a one-way ticket to getting your ability to comment taken away permanently.

New Fiction

Ties That Bind: The North Star (Stargate: Atlantis)
Sparky (MCU)
Unlucky Girl (MCU)
Let Them Try (Aliens)

Keira Marcos

In my spare time, I write fanfiction and lead a cult of cock worshippers on the Internet. It's not the usual kind of hobby for a 40ish "domestic engineer" but we live in a modern world and I like fucking with people's expectations.

  1. I really, really like your style, girl.

Btw, I didn’t have time to read the last chapter of TTB until a couple of days ago, and my internet connection wasn’t good, so I couldn’t comment, so I do it here: it was as always great, now I just need the time to give the whole story another read, after Xmas I’m sure I’ll get it.

  2. Once again- your site, your rules. Do what works best for you. I found your Nano concept very interesting and original but I know you were frustrated with it. Perhaps if it sits for six months to a year it will work itself out in your head. I absolutely loved North Star and I’m about to go read it again. I hope you feel better soon!

  3. Thanks for opening up reading again; I’ll be able to read stories on my iPhone now (I could never get the site login to work there).

  4. I’m sorry you haven’t been feeling it so much this past month. Hopefully that will change soon. It’s also a shame that you feel that way about the Rough Trade challenge. In my opinion, I wouldn’t say you failed it though. Your idea was one of the more innovative and you created the world very well through all the extra documentation you wrote for it. Not being a writer myself, I can only try to imagine how frustrating it was to feel like the story wasn’t coming together like it should, but the work you have done is still there and valid even if you never revisit it again. I’m in the process of rereading TTB for the 5th time and enjoying it just as much as I did the first time. I like to do that when a new part comes out.

  5. Thank you for all that you share with us! I love all of your work!!! I hope your New Year is fabulous!!

  6. Definitely your site, your rules. Thanks for continuing to share your work, and I’m definitely looking forward to basically rereading everything ^_^

  7. Your site, your rules. Love the monthly newsletter, even if this month you feel all blah! Just finished reading Harry Potter Birth of the Serpent King again, read North Star before Christmas, now to go back and re-read all your fic. Sorry your NANO story didn’t work out. If it gels later in the year and you feel like posting it I will look forward to reading. Thank you for continuing to share your astounding writing talents with us. Hope 2017 proves to be better for you than 2016. Happy New Year.

  8. Ditto to all the above – your site, your rules. You give us all the benefit of your wonderful work (some of which I’m re-reading as a treat for the holidays!) and you get to decide 100% the terms under which we get to read it (if at all). I hope you feel better and have a wonderful New Year!

  9. Sorry you are feeling crummy! Its your kingdom, so your rules. Thanks for sharing rereading your stories are desserts!
Best wishes for your New Year!!!

  10. It sounds like you’re one of the people who will be glad to see 2016 go away….

Let’s all raise a glass and hope that 2017 will be much, much better!

Take a deep breath, and take care of yourself.

Take things at your own pace; we’re here when *you’re* ready to share, don’t feel someone is rushing you to please us.

Merry Christmas, Happy New Year, and *happy* writing.

  11. I wish you less blah and more awesome. You certainly deserve it given the amount of awesome you’ve shared with us and keep on sharing. ♥

  12. Thank you so much for all you do!

  13. your site, your rules, babe.

but I have to say: 50K is nothing to sneeze at, and it’s a fascinating world. I’m glad for my own sake you did the challenge. but man, there’s a reason I never do those things. 😀

happy new year, chica! and all the best in the year ahead.

  14. Always look forward to these newsletters. Your MCU and Aliens shorts where the best things i’ve read in months.

  15. greywolfthewanderer

w00t! here’s hoping you feel better soon, it’s a miserable time of year. as for asshats being offended, heh, not your problem! *evil grin* yer site, you are god.

here’s hoping for a better year for all of us this time!

  16. Just a heads-up: Harry Potter is missing from the drop-down menu of fanfiction. Can still find it by using tags and such, though, but thought you’d like to know. Hope you had a Merry Christmas, Cool Yule, Joyous Kwanza – and all the rest!

  17. Dear Keira. I hope you had a peaceful Christmas. Thank you for all the work you are doing on the site. Sadly praise doesnˋt translate well. Because I always feel like I`m sounding creepy when I try
Do whatever makes you happy. Your work is outstanding and I am looking forward to whatever you cook up next. I love the standalone shorts you have been doing. They got me interested in two, so far unexplored, fandoms. So thank you for that. Enjoy the rest of the year and a good start for you in 2017.

  18. I always enjoy reading whatever you write even though I don’t always comment. Hope the new year is better than the last and don’t let the buttheads of the world get you down. Your stories always brighten up my days when I am feeling blah myself.

  19. You just keep doing you. I love the stories more each time I read them (Iterum being my current fav) and just can’t understand why some people need to whine, complain, or just be so negative or greedy. what you do is amazing to me since I have zero writing talent and your stories are my go to when I need a pick me up. Hang in there.

  20. Thank you for all the wonderful times you have given us with your stories and all the work to promote others’ work.
As far as Rough Trade goes, you did not “fail”. Realizing you were going in the wrong direction and stopping is not a “failure”. A failure would have been to continue and wind up in the wrong place – and now you have a great idea for an original story. That is definitely not a failure. In fact, it will probably wind up being a great win – for all of us.
Thank you again for all your hard work in 2016. Lilta29

  21. Happy New Year Keira. Your work never fails to brighten my day and I just want to say thank you for all your hard work and for sharing it with us. Zsuzsu

  22. I am just grateful for whatever you share with us. You have no obligation and yet you have provided hours / days of reading entertainment and new worlds to imagine life in. Thank you 🙂

  23. Thank you for continuing to share your fic. I really appreciate being able to read it, because it is awesome and full of win. Hopefully your fix will work, and you won’t have to bother with people who in their huge entitlement cannot read properly.

Again, thank you for the incredible fic you let us read.

  24. Hope the beginning of your year is going better than the end of the last! You’re a rockstar! 😀

  25. Hope you feel better and thank you so much for he awesome fic’s!!
