2023 in Review

Reading Time: 2 Minutes

Every few years, I notice a shift in the tone of my writing. When I was younger, it was off-putting as I was deeply invested in my “voice” as a writer and worked hard to protect it. Eventually, I came to realize that all writers are works in progress, and change is the goal. I never want to stop growing, adapting, and learning how to put together stories in ways that entertain me.

As I write this, I’ve busted over 100k on my current Quantum Bang project when my actual goal was just 95k. I don’t know why I thought that was reasonable considering. Anyway, there was a time when I would be immensely disappointed in going so far off the rails on the word count goal despite the fact that the actual project is on point for the plot I’ve created. I just didn’t give myself enough room for world-building in my estimate. An ongoing weakness for me as of late.

I’ve resolved not to super stress it. I can’t say it doesn’t bother me because I have an obsessive-compulsive disorder, and part of the management of my condition is recognizing what upsets me and acknowledging it. Dismissing it and pretending it doesn’t bother me isn’t helpful at all.

I set a personal goal for myself this year to post a completed project on my site at least once a month, and I’m proud to say that I accomplished it. I’m very proud of my stats, so I’m going to share them below as part of my celebration! I hope you guys have an amazing and happy new year. I celebrated fifteen years in fandom in May by hitting 5,000,000 words posted. For those keeping up with the posting of Daylight, I’m now over 5.5 million words ;-).

In my spare time, I write fanfiction and lead a cult of cock worshippers on the Internet. It's not the usual kind of hobby for a 50ish "domestic engineer" but we live in a modern world and I like fucking with people's expectations.

  14. Happy New Year to you too, I love your stories.. some are my favourite pairings and some new pairings that I never thought of reading before. Looking forward to stories you write in 2024, hopefully some of them would be my favourite pairings like Draco/Harry and Aaron/Spencer.. honestly, yours was the first Aaron/Spencer story I read and just fell in love with the pair, I really hope you do write more on that pairing. And I so hope there would be one Draco/Harry story this year.. that’s My favourite pair of all times and first story of yours to read.

Anyways, happy new year and here is to hoping this year is adventurous as ever LOL.

  20. Thank you for sharing your gift and I hope you have an awesome year.

  21. Thank you so much for your stories.
I wish you a happy new year 🙂

  22. Happy New Year to you! I’ve been enjoying your work for years, and one of the things I’ve loved best about it is how you shake up the roles of the supporting characters from story to story; sometimes these guys and gals are assholes, sometimes they’re friends, sometimes they grow and shift from one to the other within the confines of the story. As a reader, I’m never quite sure where they’re going to come into play when I start a new tale of yours and I absolutely love that. Nothing is stagnant and there are always surprises.

May 2024 be an amazing year for you, not only as a writer but also in every facet of your personal life. Thank you for sharing your creativity with us over the years!

  23. Thank you for all your wonderful stories. I can never say how much you have helped me through my ups and downs. I can disappear into your worlds and forget my problems for a while.

Bless you and your family this and every year.

  24. Thanks for all you do for us, thr projects, the events and challenges, the various sites and stories you inspire us with. I hope you have another wonderful year of writing and health.

  25. Happy new year and thank you for your words, your stories and your perspective. I believe I did some positive changes in my life and improved myself thanks to your characters’ perspectives. I am so happy to find this site and your words. On that note, I would like to make donations but I don’t use PayPal. Is there any other way to donate for the website? Thank you again X

  26. Happy New Year to you! I hope to find a prompt in one of your RT challenges this year to shake the…what am I saying? The dust on my writing skills and muse would be like Drogon rising out of the snow in front of the Red Keep after the sack of Kings Landing. Still, I’d like to see if I can still string a few words together. I look forward to reading your words, as always.

Also thank you for sharing your works with us and continuinously providing wonderful new stories and worlds to get lost in.
It has been many many years since I first found your site, it might have been through a rec for a SGA story I think, and looking back on it, it was such a lucky coincidence. I love the way you write all these different characters, down to the last OC and the rich and interesting universes you create.
It’s always such a moment of joy and anticipation when I get the notification of a new story post.

I usually re-read most of your stories at least once or twice a year, because your writing has become such a profound source of comfort at this point and I’ll be forever grateful I found you.
So once again thank you very much for sharing your gift so generously with the rest of us.

I hope the new year will be filled with wonderful moments and will bring only good things, joy and success your way.

  30. Happy new year!
I have read u for many years and you actually started me reading HP. I am not a fan of Rowling. I paged thrust her first book at store and was not impressed with her writing hence never read books nor watched films. But u started writing HP and I finally read one of yours and was hooked. Absolutely love your versions of characters and have been hooked since.
You got me thru some bad times in my life, helped me not give up and just thank you for your writing and your attitude towards life.
May you have a very productive and safe 2024 and let’s pray for a less insane 2024.
    Thank you Keira for everything.

  31. The more I read your works, the more in awe of your talent I am! Your writing is amazing and a complete joy to read, Thank you so very much for sharing with us. You are amazing!
