Ask Me Anything

Reading Time: <1 Minutes

This page is for questions that I’ll answer here or on a podcast. Only members can ask questions of if you’ve got a burning (not plot related) question — drop a comment and I might answer it on the air. If I do, I’ll reply on a podcast, I’ll reply with a link.

If you’re looking for Phoenix. Stop. Don’t collaborate and don’t bother to listen. Just…stop.

  1. I have a question about writer’s validation because I do believe we all have it to an extent. Whether it’s from- cool, someone left me a review, to- oh my god, I’m living for these comments; there’s somewhere on the spectrum for all.

That being said, this author threw me for a loop because they said: this work has been a labor of love and I’ve got plenty more I could write… but these last few chapters haven’t got as many comments as others so I’m gonna stop. To give you the lay of the land, this author had over 3,500 comments and just under 11,000 kudos for a story about 34,000 words long, clearly the story is liked.

Maybe it’s because I just write short stories and can’t comprehend their viewpoint, but I’d think any author would be ecstatic at those stats no matter how many chapters they write. What more could they need?

Since you write epic length stories I was hoping you could give me some perspective. At what point do you go from- this is my baby, screw what anyone thinks, to- oh well, people just aren’t enjoying it I’m throwing in the towel.

    • Since I post completed works, I’ve honestly never had this sort of situation. That being said, I don’t have a single fic that has that many comments.

There are two kinds of people in fandom that produce fan fiction: writers and posters

Writers write because they can’t not do it. They’re born with the desire to write and create.

Posters put together fan fiction for attention.

  2. Why haven’t you written part of the Nature Provides series when the bombing happened and not just mentioned it a little in the other parts?

  3. Hi Keira, big fan. I’ve been reading your HP fics for years but one thing I’ve been a bit confused on is sympathetic magic. I know voodoo and things like that it’s using an object to affect someone, but for example, what does it mean when Harry and Hermione can perform sympathetic magic together?

    • It means they could perform magic in tandem and have a form of magical harmony–like their magic operates on the same frequency. They could perform a big spell together or one could do it with their combined magic.

  4. Hi,
Is A Pale Horse still on your site. As I love this story and want to reread it, but I can’t find it.

    Thank you.

  5. When you’re not creating, which writers do you enjoy reading? What stories are you waiting on the next instalment to dive into?

  6. Hi keira,
on roughtrade it says not to ask questions in comments. There is an author that I wanted to ask if they where the same as another author who used to post stories under the same name.I don’t want to break the rules on the site. Is there another way I can go about asking them?

  7. Small Magic
    Relationships: Bilbo Baggins/Thorin Oakenshield,
    Harry Potter/Hermione Granger
Genre: Alternate Universe(s), Dimensional Travel, Romance. Can you put up the story again or please just send it to my email address?

  8. I read Beloved in the series Sanctity of the Heart but can not find it on the website. Gone? Merged into something else? Or, ignore it, rogue53. I liked it.

  9. Hey I want to checkout your evil author day stories for Harry potter fandom but the dreamwidth website is giving 403. Wanted to check if you have it hosted somewhere else as well as dreamwidth does not seems to be working anymore

  10. Greywolf the Wanderer

hello again. just got to the bottom of this and there are a lot of links for podcasts that interest me, but every time I click on one it just takes me to a completely blank page, the only text being in the URL window at the top. is there some software I need to acquire, or do I need to buy membership of podcasts, or are these older links just not live any more? would very much like to listen to them, now I don’t have to work 60 hours a week any more!

still amazed I lived long enough to retire, lol, but yeah, if you can help me sort this out I’ll be grateful AF. and if not, well, yer site is still fulla my favourite fics, so it’s all good.

  11. I apologize if this is not the right place to ask, but I’m a bit lost. Is there more to “As It Was” than just the single post of 3 chapters? I was trying to find any more but kept getting the run around. Thank you for any help.
