No Enemy Within – Chapter Three

Reading Time: 29 MinutesRodney’s medical testing took place while John lay recovering in an isolation ward. Atlantis erected shields around him to allow his mind to heal and further his training. His gifts of telepathic interaction had exceeded her estimations. John had become the human equivalent of a lie detector. In a moment, he could gather information at will, invading a person’s mind with military precision. It was a startlingly complicated gift but he found it very easy to control with everyone he touched except for Rodney. The weakness of that galled him. His emotional attachment to Rodney had overridden his own ethics. By the time Rodney was ready for the Citizen Induction Center two days later, John was on his feet and pretending everything was absolutely normal so he could at least observe. The mental shields Ally had taught him to build in the CIC were flexible and easy to erect. If he didn’t think about it—it was almost as if he’d always had the gifts the gene therapy had given him. Keeping himself out of everyone’s head was pretty easy to do as long as he wasn’t around McKay. He’d done his level best to give his friend the privacy he deserved but more often than not, that meant he couldn’t even stay in the same room with him for a long period of time. The most startling part of the whole thing had been when he’d gone to shave and had found himself looking at a face…

No Enemy Within – Chapter Two

Reading Time: 26 MinutesRodney dropped down in a chair beside the bed John had been put in. The remains of a meal lay abandoned on a tray table. He hadn’t seen the Colonel in over six hours because he hadn’t been willing to put Miko in the chair and then just walk away from her. Carson had used the data he collected on John to work up a plan to manage the symptoms of over using the chair and Miko had been fitted with an IV for fluids. John shifted under the covers and turned in Rodney’s direction. McKay reached out and arranged his blankets around him carefully. “He’s fine, Dr. McKay.” Rodney glanced up and found one of the nurses standing on the other side of the bed. She had a tablet PC in her hand and was taking a series of readings from a panel by the bed. “Did you guys get any fun new toys?” She smiled. “Well, we got this slick healing pod thing that came out of the wall in the back but unfortunately it doesn’t respond to any of our genes. We’re hoping to get the Colonel to try for us later when he’s rested up.” Marie motioned towards the panel above the bed. “This is a diagnostic panel. We knew about it before but there was never enough power to run them. It keeps an eye on all of his vitals for us.” Rodney nodded. He’d been the one to restrict the use…

No Enemy Within – Chapter One

Reading Time: 24 Minutes“When there is no enemy within, the enemies outside cannot hurt you.” — African proverb * * * * Rodney was shaking with a mixture of relief and excitement as he and John rushed through the wormhole and back into the safe embrace of Atlantis. Another Wraith fleet was heading their way and they’d done the unthinkable—they’d found a ZPM. A full ZPM. Everyone in the gate room stopped and stared at what he held, and John’s hand tightened on his shoulder. Elizabeth rushed down the stairs, her eyes dark and shining with emotion. “Rodney.” “Yeah.” Rodney nodded. She reached them and touched the ZPM with hesitant, reverent fingers. “How much of a charge?” “It’s full, Elizabeth.” John’s voice was hoarse with emotion. He cleared his throat. “Full.” “Teyla and Ford?” Elizabeth asked her hand curling around one of Rodney’s wrists to keep him moving. “They are finishing up negotiations. When we explained how dire our situation was, the leader of the village insisted we return to Atlantis immediately with their trade offering.” Elizabeth nodded and smiled, her fingers trembling against the cool, glossy surface of the ZPM. “How many of us have to sleep with them?” John started laughing. It had been a running joke on Atlantis for months that in the end, they would have to resort to selling their own asses to survive and everyone in the room started smiling. “Nothing like that.” His expression turned serious. “They want to join the Athosians on…

They both deserve chocolate and more thanks than I could put down with words for the last six months of beta and hand holding on this book. It wouldn’t be half the story without their input and it would have no sex at all if Chris hadn’t staged an intervention. I am blessed both as a writer and as a person to have them in my life. I’d like to thank Djaddict who did my grammar beta and line edit. She worked really hard on my behalf and I didn’t hear any screaming when she saw how big this was! Any mistakes that remain are my own and must be the will of a higher power. FanArts Series and The OtherWillow have been hard at work on art for this series and I can’t thank them enough for seeing my words and giving me such beautiful and amazing art to represent it. I’m spoiled rotten on this front! The series art page is here. Please check it out and let them know how awesome they are. Return…

Author’s Note: I know NOTHING about genetics and what I read might as well have been written in High Vulcan. Just go with it and make believe if I’ve fucked up royally. Summary: Jack O’Neill struggles with coming online so late in his life while John comes to grips with the guilt he’s been repressing concerning his estrangement from his father and brothers. * * * * John sat back in his chair and waited until the rest of the Sentinels and online Guides in the city were seated. “Dr. Keller is going to give us a lesson about our ancestry based on the research she’s been doing with Dr. Grodin. It promises to fuck up our self-perceptions for the foreseeable future so be prepared.” Jennifer put her tablet PC down on the table in front of her and picked up the remote for the big view screen for the conference room. “Sentinels and Guides as we know them today began on Sateda. I RECOMMEND YOU READ THEM! Summary: John and Rodney adjust to being back on the city after the house trial and Scott Holland shows his true colors. About the Poem: Shira posted a poem for me in the comments section and I found it so inspiring and perfect for this story that I’ve included it. * * * * Contrary to Public Opinion by Shira It’s not the temptation of crystal spires reaching high into the sky, so far away, That makes me follow his lead Nor is it the blue and silver encircling my neck or the star etched deep into my skin That shows my worth to him. And though the marks left on my body ache oh so deliciously even hours later That’s not what ties me to him. It is his every touch of eyes and hands saying loud and clearly all the time That I am cherished. Loved. And owned. Finally. * * * * John had been back on the city for exactly six hours and his office felt more like Grand Central Station than the haven of silence and order it normally was. He glanced up as the door slid open again and smiled in surprise as McKay entered.…

Reading Time: 10 MinutesArt by FanArts Series The Home Front Keira Marcos Series: What Might Have Been Series Order: Pre-series Interlude Pairing: Sheppard/McKay Rating: PG Word Count: 2,374 Summary: John Sheppard comes home. * * * * The Pegasus galaxy should’ve been the death of me. She certainly tried hard enough to do the deed in the time that I was there. A year and a half on the city of the Ancients hadn’t changed me as much as some people like to assume. The experience of living on Atlantis hadn’t made me a different man—no more than it had the scientists and Marines I was able to bring home with me. I knew it pointless and disrespectful to hide the man I am after suffering so much and losing so many. The people we buried in Pegasus—they’d earned honesty from me with their blood. So, returning to Earth in failure only to be promoted to Jack O’Neill’s 2IC hadn’t changed me—it’d just made it easier to stay. I’d really thought I’d be shuttled off to a nowhere base and had resolved myself to riding out the years I had left until I could retire. It wasn’t an unpleasant surprise to be wrong—to see that the people of the SGC didn’t see the Atlantis mission as a failure. Jack O’Neill didn’t hold the losses against me—not like I did. I blamed myself for the deaths of every single member of our expedition and it had all started when I’d failed…

Beautiful Stranger

Reading Time: 6 MinutesArt by FanArts Series Title: Beautiful Stranger Author: Keira Marcos Fandom: Stargate Series: What Might Have Been Series Order: Pre-Series Interlude Pairing: Cameron Mitchell/OMC Word Count: 1,590 * * * * Cameron wanted to play it cool—make it sexy, fun, and uncomplicated but the gorgeous man spread out on the bed underneath him was trembling. “Easy.” “This isn’t…what I expected.” “Good.” He leaned forward and placed a series of soft, damp kisses down the man’s stomach. He’d said his name was Matt but that could easily be a lie. “I don’t want to be the usual experience for you, Matthew.” The Navy pilot laughed softly and then groaned as Cam brushed his lips over the head of his cock. “Christ, you have no idea.” He kind of suspected that he was going where no man had gone before—touching and kissing this too beautiful stranger. Cam couldn’t even explain how they’d gone from meeting in the airport to sharing dinner and now a bed. He didn’t normally take risks with his career—and a stranger in uniform was a pretty big fucking risk. He sucked Matt’s cock deep into his mouth, swallowing around the head as pushed his hand under the man’s ass to get the right angle. His efforts were rewarded—Matt groaned softly, each breathy little sound was so exciting that Cam thought he might come on the sheets before he ever talked the man into fucking him. Cameron released his cock with a smart little pop and…

Betas: Chris King & Ladyholder Summary: The Expedition dials Earth and sends them the bad news. John and Rodney take some time on the mainland to reconnect. Patrick Sheppard sticks his nose in SGC business and Jack O’Neill meets Alpha Sentinel Prime James Ellison. * * * * Patrick Sheppard settled down in his favorite chair with a bourbon and closed his eyes. “I don’t want to discuss it, Matthew.” Matt Sheppard shared a look with his brother and then leaned forward from his place on the couch. “Dad, I don’t think you understand—John is just gone. His records with the Air Force were sealed by the Pentagon six months ago after his reassignment to Colorado. I’ve been calling people for two months trying to get to someone who knows where he is and there is nothing.” “John made his choice,” Patrick murmured. “And he could’ve come home at any time. He hasn’t… it isn’t like I haven’t reached out to him time and time again only to be ignored.” “He could be dead,” Matt snapped and stood up from the couch. “He’s dead and the Air Force is hiding so they don’t have to report a Sentinel…

Summary: “The life of a soldier is defined by discipline, shaped by duty, and immortalized in acts of courage in the face of the most dangerous situations.” * * * * The first time John heard a woman weeping, it was his mother. It was the day she’d realized out her five year old son had come online. An ache had built in his chest in response, tangling into a hot, tight knot of pain that still lingered with the other memories of his mother. As proud as she was to have birthed a Sentinel, his mother had been truly unprepared for him to come online before the onset of puberty. His father had held her, rocked her gently while he promised her fiercely that it wasn’t her fault. John didn’t think that Patrick Sheppard meant anything more than that—at least not now that he was an adult but as a child he’d often wondered if his daddy had thought it was his fault instead. He’d never doubted his father’s love but some part of Patrick Sheppard had been unable to fully embrace the only…

Summary: Bates comes online during a hostage situation off-world, Tyre and Peter take some time to themselves on the mainland, and John has an unexpected visitor. * * * * Dean Bates sat down on his footlocker in the large room the entire city used for mission prep. The men under him in the company had taken his potential change of status better than he’d suspected they would but then John Sheppard had worked hard to make sure he didn’t bring any assholes on the expedition. His Sentinel gifts were hovering on the edge of his mind. Graham had come online in his sleep over a week ago. Dean hadn’t been able to do anything but hold his Guide and talk him through the construction of his primary shield. It had rankled but he’d had no choice but to allow Sheppard and McKay to come to his quarters to help Graham. It had been relieving, however, that they’d included him as much as possible in the process and never made him feel like he wasn’t enough to help Graham through the event. Now, sixteen days later, he felt close and…

Summary: The city forces Tyre to come to terms with his needs and the temptation he’s been resisting. Meanwhile, John and Rodney are off world with Cameron and Vala to investigate an abandoned world with an Ancient lab and find something disturbing. * * * * Elizabeth would’ve loved to throw aside the two sticks Cadman had forced into her hands and just punch the female Sentinel in the face. Since the aggression was contrary to her accepted self-image, she was at a loss as to how to deal with it and she wasn’t ready to admit how… hostile she felt all the time lately. She had been assured that it was normal for an emerging Sentinel to be on edge and even at times violent in the right circumstances especially considering how dangerous their situation was. No matter how much her mind might be protesting the changes in her biology—the rest of her was on board. If she didn’t think about it—it was easy to surrender herself to sparring and the physical…

What she finds surprises the hell out of her. * * * * “Dr. Wallace, you were going to report on Sergeant Campbell?” John questioned with a raised eyebrow. “Does he remember anything more about his experience with the Wraith or why he left his quarters?” Simon shook his head. “No. I’ve been reviewing the research on Wraith in the Ancient database and I believe he wasn’t in control of his mind or body during the time. I think he managed to break free of the Wraith’s mind control when he saw the creature because it’s the first thing he remembers after going to sleep. He doesn’t have a history of sleep walking but his mother is a documented sensitive. I spoke with Dr. Keller and we double checked his blood work to make sure we didn’t miss anything in his testing. Nothing popped beyond the fact that we believe he would be a great candidate for the ATA gene therapy she’s developing.” “And we can give that to him without it turning him…” John sighed. “He doesn’t have any Satedian DNA at all?” “None,” Simon assured. “We’ve been very careful to test everyone twice for…

Not the ATA gene—that’s artificial but another gene that most of the Sentinels on Earth have. Probably upwards of ninety-five percent of Sentinels have it but there are a few who don’t and you’re one of them. You do have the gene we’ve identified that come from the Satedians. And you have a latent ATA gene.” Bates exhaled sharply and looked out over the ocean. “When you brought me out here—I thought it was to discuss Stackhouse and Markham.” “Are they a problem?” John asked mildly. “Not for me, but they could stand to be a little more discreet. John learns that he has three latent Sentinels on the mission and must determine how best to deal with the likelihood that their circumstances alone might bring them online. * * * * Simon raised an eyebrow and glanced over at his shoulder at his wife. “Colonel Sheppard. This is a surprise.” John offered him a small smile. “I hope I’m not disturbing your morning. I know you’re both off duty.” “No, please come in.” Simon motioned him in as Elizabeth slipped into their bedroom to throw on the rest of her clothes. “Coffee?” “No, but thank you. I have to watch my caffeine intake. Sometimes it makes me edgy for the wrong reasons.” John sat down at the table that Simon motioned to. “But the Athosian tea is nice.” Simon nodded. “I enjoy it but it has an adverse effect on Elizabeth.” He grinned then. “Well, not exactly adverse but she certainly can’t indulge in it if she’s going to be out in public.” He brought a…

John Sheppard eyed his fellow Sentinel with shrewd eyes. “He’s the head of Botany, Radek. He’ll be the authority on our dietary needs when it comes to food crops off world.  Teyla and Ronon are both confident that a trip to this trading world would be to our benefit. Unfortunately, the trade fair is scheduled to move within the week and it could be weeks before they are established elsewhere. He’d learned along the way not to set himself up for heartache. He was standing at a view window with his Dom when they left hyperspace and achieved orbit around Lantea. He’d seen a few planets from space—for the most part they always looked inviting. Even if they rarely were. “The Ancients certainly liked their planets big and blue.” John laughed softly. “Yeah, they do. We rarely encounter a world that isn’t beautiful at least from an environmental perspective.” He settled one hand on Rodney’s hip and let his chin rest on his sub’s shoulder. “I’m going to ask someone to bring a Jumper up for us. Lorne laughed. “Well, I went by her office because she wasn’t wearing her radio. She’s on her lunch break with her submissive. So I chose not to interrupt them.” John lifted an eyebrow and glanced at Matthew. “Earlier you were talking about the fact that you and the Major Hughes were submissive. Do you have a problem being in command of Dominants?” “Not at all,” Matt said as he slouched down on the couch with his computer. “I can’t say the same for some Dominants I’ve served with but I don’t take shit from lower ranking officers. I never have. Of course, the Navy has never rated me for discipline and certainly never will. I assumed I would elevate any punishments to you or Major Lorne.” John nodded. “Yeah, I normally handle discipline on Atlantis—at least I did when Marshall was in charge unless the infraction was severe and then they just wished I was doing the work. Marshall specialized in bloodletting and he never spared the rod.” Matthew nodded. “Lorne would discipline me, I take it?” John frowned and considered that. “Yeah, I guess so.” He glanced at Lorne who looked intensely uncomfortable. “Major?” “Sir.” Evan blew out a breath. “I don’t think I could. I’m rated for the flogger and the strap but he’s a Geisha for fuck’s sake.” Matthew laughed.…

Summary: John and Rodney return to the SGC and make ready to go to Atlantis with a few problems along the way. * * * * Elizabeth was waiting on them when they finished the check in process into the mountain. She said nothing as she guided them both down a hall and towards another elevator. Once the doors were closed she sighed. “Carter is here. There was an emergency with the gate and O’Neill was forced to recall her to deal with it. He didn’t want to bother you and Rodney on your family trip.” Rodney inched closer to John aware that his Dom was still boiling over on the inside when it came to his ex-wife. “It’ll be fine, John.” John shook his head, his jaw tightening. “I don’t need to be in a room with her Elizabeth. I don’t think I can trust myself around her.” Elizabeth blinked in surprise but looked closely at Rodney’s pale features and hit the stop button on the elevator. “What’s going on?” John shook his head and closed his eyes. Four days hadn’t…

Ties That Bind: You Belong To Me

Reading Time: 101 MinutesYou Belong To Me Keira Marcos Series: Ties That Bind Series Order: 3 Pairing: McShep (many other secondary pairings) Genre: Romance, BDSM Rating: NC-17 Word Count: 25, 500 Warnings: Graphic male/male sex, anal play, BDSM, violence, and exhibitionism (does any of that really make you not want to read it?). Evil!Carter, Marine!John Author’s Notes: SEE THE SERIES PAGE FOR FULL AUTHOR NOTES. I RECOMMEND YOU READ THEM! Summary: John and Rodney make time to see both of their families before they leave for Atlantis. * * * * Rodney had a lot of money. He’d worked in private and government research in Canada and in the United States since he’d graduated with his first degree. Mostly it sat in a bank account and he bought cool things that he liked. He’d been thinking about buying a house so he could live off base—something he hadn’t done since his divorce from Sam. The main reason he hadn’t was mostly because buying a house for just himself sort of meant he was giving up having another Dom in his life. Granted, he’d paid for Sam’s house but it had been bought and remodeled to suit her exactly. He’d catered to every wish when it had come to the home they would share and put it in her name without blinking an eye. He didn’t even really regret that part—she’d certainly wish she didn’t have a house worth a couple of million dollars when it came time to pay property…

Ties That Bind: Learning to Belong

Reading Time: 132 MinutesLearning to Belong Keira Marcos Series: Ties That Bind Series Order: 2 Pairing: McShep (many other secondary pairings) Genre: Romance, BDSM Rating: NC-17 Word Count: 33,200 Warnings: Graphic male/male sex, anal play, BDSM, violence, and exhibitionism (does any of that really make you not want to read it?). Evil!Carter, Marine!John Author’s Notes: SEE THE SERIES PAGE FOR FULL AUTHOR NOTES. I RECOMMEND YOU READ THEM! Summary: John starts his debrief and Rodney settles into his new role as the collared submissive of a Marine. * * * * Rodney had been told during his first session in de Sade that the first forty-eight hours a sub spends in a new collar was to be a period of serious adjustment in both thought and action. The first couple of days with Sam had been on their honeymoon. He wondered now how Carter had let him get away with that—withholding his acceptance of her collar until he put a wedding band on her finger. She’d never fought the formal commitment ceremony and beyond a few snide comments about his arrogance. Sam had made the entire process rather easy all things considered. The only time she’d balked had been when it had come time to sign the sub contract he’d refused to move forward without. If she’d been pissed about it later, she never let on and their honeymoon had been full of sex and what he’d thought was love. Even now, he cringed at his own stupidity when it…

The Alliance

Reading Time: 42 MinutesTitle: The Alliance Author: Keira Marcos Series title: The Sentinels of Atlantis Series Order: 7 Fandom: Sentinel/Stargate Fusion Rating: NC-17 (sexual content) Pairings: McKay/Sheppard, Teyla/Ronon, Vala/Cameron (many secondary pairings—see the series index page for a full listing) Warnings: Slash, explicit m/m sex, filthy language Summary: Teyla and Ronon foster a relationship between the Lanteans and the Genii but not everyone agrees with the agreement the two peoples reach. * * * * “Again?” Vala rolled to her feet and picked up the bantos rod she had lost when Teyla had put her down like a child. She took up the defensive position she’d been taught earlier in the morning and took a deep breath. “Again,” she agreed. Teyla advanced and the striking of wood against wood filled the gym. They’d gathered quite a crowd, including their own Sentinels who were standing sentry on either side of the room—alternately glaring at each other and then the crowd of Marines who had gathered to watch the two alien women go at it. She sacrificed her thigh to a vicious blow and in doing so positioned herself to hook one foot around Teyla’s leg and send them both sprawling. Rods scattered in four directions as they hit the floor. Vala pinned her with a smirk and Teyla lay there for a few seconds, breathless and then she started to laugh. “Well done. You must teach me that.” Vala rolled off of her and to her feet in one fluid motion.…

The Culling

Reading Time: 43 Minutes Title: The Culling Author: Keira Marcos Series title: The Sentinels of Atlantis Series Order: 6 Fandom: Sentinel/Stargate Fusion Rating: NC-17 (sexual content, violence) Pairings: McKay/Sheppard, Teyla/Ronon (many secondary pairings)   Warnings: Explicit sex, adult language, violence   Summary: The Athosians dial Atlantis in desperation—their Guardian has been culled and they need sanctuary. * * * * John was convinced that Chuck liked to say “Unscheduled Off World Activation” over the radio in that not quite panicked toned because he was trying to be more like Walter. He sort of missed Walter a lot and wished he’d stolen him on the way through the gate to Pegasus. He and Walter had spent many a crazy ass night dialing the gate when they’d been looking for Vala. Chuck, the Canadian, had his own charm but he wasn’t Walter. He didn’t smell like coffee and chocolate chip cookies like the tight-assed Air Force man that was Sergeant Walter Harriman. John trotted down the small set of stairs from his office and entered the command deck area above the gate. “Cameron isn’t due to check in for three hours.” “I know, sir.” Chuck took a deep breath.  “I’m receiving an IDC; it’s the one you left with the Athosians. I’ve opened a channel but there is nothing but static.” John activated his own radio. “This is Colonel Sheppard, please respond.” The scream of a Guide in distress was one that any Sentinel could recognize and it chilled him to the…

The Enemy

Reading Time: 37 MinutesTitle: The Enemy Author: Keira Marcos Series title: The Sentinels of Atlantis Series Order: 5 Fandom: Sentinel/Stargate Fusion Rating: R Pairings: McKay/Sheppard, Lorne/Keller (many secondary pairings) Warnings: Explicit sex, adult language, violence  Summary: On a routine mission, they encounter the Wraith for the first time with potentially devastating results. * * * * John was pretty sure he was tired of stepping out of the gate to a face full of Ronon’s gun. He raised an eyebrow at his fellow Sentinel and the much larger man just shrugged and holstered his weapon. He glanced towards Teyla and found her dressed similarly to her Sentinel—complete with a pulse pistol he refused to envy on general principal. Though he had whined, in private, to his own Guide extensively about his lack of a truly sci-fi kind of weapon. It was hard to be an intergalactic explorer without some kind of energy gun, John was absolutely positive on this subject. “The people on this planet are pre-industrial and their science is nothing like you mentioned wanting but they have some ruins left by the Ancestors.” Ronon reached out and touched his Guide, drawing her forward slightly. “Teyla’s people have traded with them for many years.” John inclined his head at Teyla but focused on Ronon. “In our society there are rules that govern how another Sentinel can interact with a bonded Guide. We haven’t discussed such protocols and Dr. Weir handled our last meeting entirely. We should probably get that…

The Shield

Reading Time: 21 MinutesTitle: The Shield Author: Keira Marcos Series title: The Sentinels of Atlantis Series Order: 4 Fandom: Sentinel/Stargate Fusion Rating: R Pairings: McKay/Sheppard (many secondary pairings) Warnings: Explicit sex, adult language, violence   Summary: Rodney finds a personal shield and his Sentinel suffers when the shield malfunctions. * * * * For the first 15 minutes or so it had been the coolest fucking thing ever. Then for the twenty minutes after that, it had been a source of honest to God ‘woohoo’ fun. After that, he’d forced himself to actually start collecting data on it. Of course, in retrospect he should have told his Sentinel what he was up to—but he got caught up in the excitement. So, when he let Peter Grodin push him off the balcony in the gateroom he really wasn’t thinking about how it would look to anyone else, including his Sentinel. He scrambled to his feet just as John hit the gateroom floor, with murder in his eye and Grodin in his sights. Rodney blinked. “No, wait, John!” He got between his Sentinel and Grodin. “It’s an experiment. He only did what I asked him to do!” John reached out for him, anger bleeding away but concern still simmering all around him, and actually hissed when he encountered the energy field of the shield. “What the hell, McKay? I’ve been looking for you everywhere!” “Oh, Ancient personal shield.” Sheppard pressed against the shield and it shimmered around McKay. “Take it off. Take…

The Guardian

Reading Time: 21 MinutesTitle: The Guardian Author: Keira Marcos Series title: The Sentinels of Atlantis Series Order: 3 Fandom: Sentinel/Stargate Fusion Rating: NC-17 Pairings: McKay/Sheppard (many secondary pairings) Warnings: Explicit sex, violence, adult language Summary: Sheppard and McKay travel to Athos and meet their Guardian and his consort in an effort to create a relationship between the people of Athos and the Expedition. They learn the name of a new enemy and a new threat for Earth. * * * * John tapped his ink pen on the desk he shared with McKay. The office above the gateroom had an excellent overview of the area and afforded him a great location to look both like he knew what the fuck he was doing and keep an eye on how truly messed up things were. Eight days in a new galaxy, and the entire expedition was looking a little ragged around the edges. He knew most of the mundanes weren’t sleeping well. He tracked their movements around the city as they paced the halls late into the night. “You even look stunningly beautiful when you brood,” McKay leaned against the doorway. “Maybe even more so, I’m starting to get why romance heroes are always brooding and depressed.” John favored his Guide with a smile. “Hey, how are things going down there?” “The isolation room is almost complete. The walls… thickened on their own. Everyone is trying not to get all freaked out about it but once I announced the plans to…

The Chair

Reading Time: 19 MinutesSentinels of Atlantis: Radek & David ~ Art by K-Lee Title: The Chair Author: Keira Marcos Series title: The Sentinels of Atlantis Series Order: 2 Fandom: Sentinel/Stargate Fusion Rating: NC-17 Pairings: McKay/Sheppard (many secondary pairings)   Warnings: explicit sex, filthy language, lack of respect for canon   Summary: The Expedition comes to Atlantis with the hopes of finding the past and understanding their origins. The city control Chair wakes a part of Radek Zelenka that should have remained dormant and the consequences ripple throughout the entire expedition. * * * * “Okay, let’s take stock.” John slid into a chair in the large conference room they’d discovered just off the gate room. Rodney looked at him but didn’t smile. They were all so beyond smiling at this point. “We are under water, the shield is failing because we don’t have enough power to run it effectively, half the city has already flooded because of it, and the ZPM is almost depleted. The naquadah generators we brought with us aren’t going help on the shield front. In short, we’re fucked.” It was concise and horrible, just what he’d expected from his Guide. John leaned back in the chair and mentally reached out for the city. They’d discovered that the lack of power didn’t make for the best connection but the city was definitely talking to them on some level. It reacted to their desires and needs pretty much effortlessly—opening doors and turning on lights as requested with just…

More Than Words – Part Six

Reading Time: 44 Minutes* * * * One Month Later “In other news, Gerald McCray has been formally named in an investigation by the Department of Justice in a large insider trading ring that has so far netted 15 high level executives in various technology and research companies around the country. He is the fifth executive from Pan-Tech to be named in the investigation. Pan-Tech made headlines earlier in the month when it’s CEO, Darren Franks, was found dead in his Florida home, the victim of an apparent home invasion. No suspects have been identified in that crime and investigators haven’t been forthcoming on any evidence left at the scene.” Rodney turned off the television in his office and turned in his chair to look at John. “Well?” “We have four left. What does your gut tell you?” “Armand went to ground shortly after the Justice Department picked up the investigation I fed them. I consider him a high level threat. Once we get a location on him, I want him dealt with.” “Not a problem.” John murmured. “Anyone else?” “None of the others have the finances or the intelligence to pull off anything I would consider a threat but I’m keeping an eye on them. I have a few friends that will make getting financed for anything difficult for them in the future.” John walked to stand by the large window that made up the back wall of Rodney’s office and watched Sebastian rough housing in the pool with…

More Than Words – Part Five

Reading Time: 13 Minutes* * * * “You know I want to help you, Dr. McKay, but what you’re asking is dangerous.” Rodney shrugged. “How long have I worked for this agency, Cole?” Phillip Cole took a deep breath. “I was told you signed your first contract with our organization when you were fourteen years old through a legal representative. I didn’t believe it, to be honest, and looked it up myself. However, you’ve always done amazing work for us, Doctor, and we appreciate it a great deal. Your work has made our intelligence operations safer and more effective. I get that we owe you.” “I want the names of the people who are in the Trust. I want their organizational hierarchy. I want to know where the money comes from. Who has political connections and what politicians are sitting in their pockets? It doesn’t matter to me who you have to go through or what you have to do to accomplish it. I’ve heard rumors but I want fact and I want it as soon as possible.” “I know they are pulling some strings trying to take your adopted child from you, but there are legal ways to deal with this.” “Our son cries himself to sleep every night, Cole. My General and I are no longer interested in playing this game with these men. You’ll get me the names or you won’t have a job by the end of the day.” He pulled an envelope from his suit…

More Than Words – Part Four

Reading Time: 32 Minutes * * * * “There isn’t a reality in the multiverse where that question is appropriate.” Sebastian scuffed the carpet in front of him with one shoe while Kate Heightmeyer hid a smile behind her hand. “Look, Dr. Marlow, I realize you have a job to do here and while it’s not my intention to make things difficult for you—I am not, under any circumstances, discussing my ‘burgeoning sexuality’ with you. That’s absolutely none of your business. I don’t even discuss my ‘burgeoning sexuality’ with myself. I’m not even sure I have a ‘burgeoning sexuality’, I turned ten three days ago.” The state psychologist clicked his ink pen several times and cleared his throat. “Yes, I understand that the plans for your birthday party on Rodney’s private island were cancelled.” That earned him a glare. “Yeah, because of this crap with my ex-step Aunt. She filed some kind of injunction about my leaving the country or even the planet which ruined my field trip to Uranus. I had to write a research paper on that planet to earn a spot on the observation team and then they went without me because of that stupid injunction.” Which he was ashamed to admit had resulted him in throwing his first temper tantrum, ever, in front of his Dads. They’d been no more amused than he had been and his throwing things hadn’t helped. He was still grounded over that crap. “And you’re to refer to him as Dr.…
