Newsletter Spring 2019

Reading Time: 3 Minutes I’ve got a full plate! It’s always best to be kept busy and I’m certainly managing that this month (and for the next few months on top of that).  Rough Trade is in full swing for April and the Quantum Bang has been very successful so far. We had 25 projects come in for the art claim which is stunning! We didn’t expect that many to be completed by May ;-). We’re super proud of all of you guys. I can’t wait to start reading. Even more are finished or will be finished for the second art claiming in May. You guys are just awesome! I’ve some more original works on the plate as well including one about a lightkeeper who gets a summer assistant he’s not sure he can handle. It will be gay historical. I’ve had a great time researching lighthouses. Also I’m noodling Synthetic and trying to rework the concept with original characters after my total fail to write it as an SGA fusion. I’ll have to scrap all the work I’ve written since I don’t want to “scrub” it and present it as original which isn’t totally terrible since I don’t like what I wrote anyways. Happy Spring! Newsletter Winter 2019

So mostly I’ve been focusing on the Harry Potter fandom and my Quantum Bang story. I’m plotting a Stargate: Atlantis story for April and I’m pretty pleased with my idea so far. We’ll see how it goes. I’ll probably put my NANO project from last year up on the site in the next month or so. It was meant to be a series but honestly I just don’t know if that is going to happen. We’ll see how I feel about it during editing/beta. We’re just 13 days out from sign-ups for April Rough Trade.

Newsletter Fall 2018

I’ve had a very productive year at least in the background. I know there haven’t been a lot of site updates but I’ve got lots of big projects brewing and I don’t like to post novels as works in progress (as you know). This policy is one reason why I really enjoy posting in episode format. It made posting big works like (Sentinels of Atlantis and Harry Potter & the Soulmate Bond) much easier to manage. Still, there is something pretty righteous about putting together a novel like Courting Hermione Granger — it is an entirely different experience than writing a series of episodes.

Newsletter Spring 2018

I think Rough Trade is going well for me but I’m very comfortable in the episode format so I didn’t expect it to be much of a challenge on that front. I essentially failed to pants though–I had to stop and plot as to avoid driving myself crazy. I’m writing episode 5 and I’m enjoying the change of pace I’ve plotted for this one.

May 2017 Newsletter

Reading Time: 1 Minutes I forgot to do a newsletter in April. Oops? I was knee deep in the RT challenge, and I did meet my word count goal for the month even if I didn’t actually finish the project. I’m about three chapters and an epilogue from finished so I’m pretty pleased with my progress since I’d been blocked on that particular story for more than a year. Darkly Loyal will remain on RT through the end of the month then it will be removed to make room for the next challenge on the site. I don’t know when it will be completed and appear in its final form on my site. Don’t ask! February 2017 Newsletter

I’m plugging right along on the writing front. The weather sucks. I’m tired of experiencing all of the seasons in a four-day cycle. I’ve been fiddling with a Girl McKay which you might have noticed and expanded my short into a story/episode. I’ve plotted about 10 of them and I’m pretty amused with the whole thing. I’ve already almost finished the second episode and it’ll probably go into beta next week sometime.

Sometimes I hate my brain because it never stops. Just about half way through my NANO story, I came to realize that my structure is deeply flawed. This comes from a creator perspective because I’m not getting there in the writing and by “there” I mean I’m not seeing the story develop the way I wanted it to develop. The premise is a lot bigger in my head than what I’ve been able to put down in real, actual words.

Rough Trade went very well and the erase date is October 1, 2016 so please make sure to read all you want before that point. July 2016 Newsletter

Reading Time: 2 MinutesHi All, I finished my read through on Sentinels of Atlantis and made my final tweaks to the overall plot arc for season 2. I’ve got a few dangling pairings and some world building to do on the political front for Earth but I’m pretty happy with my finalized plans which I’d honestly hoped to have done by the first of May (that obviously didn’t work out). I finished the rough draft of the story I outlined in my May 8, 2016 podcast (Plot Drift: What if James Potter left Britain with his family?) and it sort of … well. Let’s just say that what came out of it was inspired but that plot drift and leave it at that. The first draft is around 51k but I expect to increase by at least 25% during the second draft stage and that’s before it enters beta. Since we’re in challenge now and we’ll be in challenge again in November, I don’t expect to put this particular story (currently untitled) into beta until the very end of the year. Well, unless I break something. That being said I have no intention of posting this particular book until the other two books in the trilogy are in the rough draft stage. There are a lot of moving parts and keeping my plot tight for the whole project means nothing gets published until everything is written. I suppose many people see me as a bitch and that’s fine–I come from a long, distinguished line of bitches but I don’t think I’m cruel. Maybe some would disagree but there also the same people who think they have the right to boss me around. Let me be frank, I don’t even let the man who pays my bills tell me what to do. It was already fading, the last traces of it skillfully covered with make-up but visible after a shower – and there were always people in the communal showers when the Geisha was there. Not to harass or crudely ogle him, but few men had seen a Geisha before, let alone naked – and this Geisha was a stunningly beautiful man, well worth looking at. Warrant Officer Jim Dempsey knew he didn’t stand a chance with the Geisha, knew that men like that belonged to kings or generals or otherwise exceptional men. Jim wasn’t putting himself down or anything, but he knew he didn’t stand out in a crowd and wasn’t going to change the world. He wasn’t an ambitious man. He was steady rather than spectacular, getting much satisfaction from the work he did to keep things on the Ronald Reagan running smoothly. An ex he’d nearly collared had accused him of being a closet sub or switch, too passive and easy-going to be a Dom. Jim had no hard feelings for that sub, but wasted no thoughts on him either. In the background he could here a female voice asking anxiously where Tony was, then a male voice with a British accent attempting to calm her down. “I want to know why my agent has been transferred to an Air Force base in Colorado, when there are any number of Naval facilities that could help him. Luckily, she only used this power for the good of mankind (i.e. writing absolutely fantastic fan fiction). One day, for reasons unknown, Keira happened to visit a small city called Colorado Springs. After a night full of sleep (and delicious dreams) she chose a nearby coffee shop to sit down, have a hot drink and write a few lines in her latest story. However, this proved to be rather problematic.
